State of Utah vs. James Kip Ramsdell

Today, the Summit County Attorney’s Office filed a criminal Information in the Third District Court, Silver Summit Division charging Highland Estates resident James Kip Ramsdell with Criminal Homicide, Murder, a First Degree Felony in connection with the shooting death of his roommate and tenant, long-time Summit County resident John Krieg during the night of October 6-7, 2021 in Summit County, Utah.

 

A copy of the charging document can be found HERE. If convicted, Murder carries a penalty of 15 years to life in the Utah State Prison and the Firearms enhancement involves an additional minimum year in prison.

 

Mr. Ramsdell was arrested and is being held without bail in the Summit County Jail.

 

No further details regarding this active investigation will be released at this time.

 

If anyone has information relating to the death of John Krieg, please contact the Summit County Sheriff’s Office at (435) 615-3601.

 

The public should remember that these are allegations, and that Mr. Ramsdell is presumed innocent of these charges until proven guilty in a court of law.
